Website localisation: adapting your website to local markets
If you want to attract customers from other countries to your website, a localised translation is imperative. When your website is translated, elements such as text and images must be adapted to suit the target audience. Different writing conventions for the date, different currencies and different units of measure must be taken into account. The localisation of your web pages requires the selection of words and phrases that are appropriate for the target culture. We will be happy to advise you.
Website translation: including search engine optimisation
Different countries, different search behaviour. Which words does your target group actually enter into a search engine? When you have your website translated, the translation of your SEO source text should also be optimised according to the principles of SEO. This ensures that your website is easy to find in other countries as well as the original country. We also take responsibility for the translation of title tags, meta descriptions, alternative attributes and link text.
And not just that: If you want to have your product descriptions translated at the same time, then you’re in good hands with us. With our translations, which are adapted to your target audience, your content is sure to start showing up on the screens of your international customers in no time.
Case study: Translation of the BIRKENSTOCK website
New BIRKENSTOCK online shops for Poland and Canada
BIRKENSTOCK is one of the most well-known German fashion brands in the world and one of the top global footwear brands.
In 2019, intercontact completed website localisation projects for the BIRKENSTOCK online shops for Poland and Canada in just a few weeks. This task involved the translation of all static elements of the online shop, such as navigation and check-out elements, as well as the translation of all product descriptions into Polish and Canadian French.
The role of intercontact was to make it easier for Polish and Canadian BIRKENSTOCK customers to order high-quality products through the use of high-quality text. The expectations for the project included translations that used language and expressions that could be easily understood by BIRKENSTOCK target customers along with consistent terminology. Customers in Poland and Canada should not be able to recognise the texts as translations and should feel as if they are being personally addressed.
intercontact rose to the challenge and is responsible for keeping all 12 BIRKENSTOCK online shops up to date in addition to the Polish and Canadian translations.
Case study: Localisation of the Fressnapf website
Translation of the REAL NATURE homepage
We managed the localisation of the new REAL NATURE homepage from Fressnapf Tiernahrungs GmbH within a few months.
The text needed to be translated into seven languages: German, English, French, Hungarian, Italian, Dutch and Polish. As it was a localisation project, it involved much more than a classic translation; the texts needed to be comprehensively adapted according to the requirements of the target countries.
Customer retention and the acquisition of new customers were the central challenges of the communication, which had to be adapted for the culture of each target country in a way that reflected the brand. REAL NATURE is a premium private-label brand from Fressnapf whose products stand out thanks to their high-quality, fresh, natural ingredients and the avoidance of preservatives, colourants or flavouring compounds.
Case study: Localisation of the Gerry Weber brand shops
Target group orientation in practice
As an international fashion and lifestyle group, Gerry Weber International AG appeals to a range of target groups.
The brand shops and the house-of-gerryweber.com marketplace, where all of the Gerry Weber brands are represented, are key instruments in doing so.
We supported the company in launching their three new brand shops, gerryweber.com, taifun.com and samoon.com, with the localisation of each site. Alongside this, we were also entrusted with the translation for the relaunch of house-of-gerryweber.com.
The biggest challenge in this process was to reflect the differences in communication between the shops according to the various target groups and to ensure user-friendly applications.
intercontact provides support for the Gerry Weber website in German, English, Dutch and Polish.
Good website translators have extensive experience
